How matching works
Every color in the pool is compared to your input using CIEDE2000 ΔE, the same perceptual distance Close Hue uses to score guesses in the daily puzzle. Lower ΔE means the colors look more alike; ΔE under 2 is the threshold of just-noticeable difference for a trained observer.
The pool is 6,177 unique names merged from a hand-curated list, Wikipedia's List of colors, the meodai/color-names goodName subset, and the xkcd color survey. Full source attribution and methodology lives at /colors.
